UPDATE: Thanks to reader plue, who found this product on Loving Minerals. It is selling for 23MYR each. Yay! So forgive my complaints below as local Malaysian readers can also get it. I guess I don't really shop online to know all the stuff around. Thanks Plue!
One of my recent quests is to search for better concealer than my HG Make Up For Ever Full Cover, which has hiccups every now and then these days. I am forever in search for that one perfect concealer that will not break me out, have excellent coverage for my brown spots and most of all, last the whole day as I have no time to retouch makeup most of the time...
Is it too much to ask? My accidental find of Skin Food Banana Stick Concealer is probably the closest thing to Make Up For Ever Full Cover. However, that concealer only comes in 2 shades and it doesn't stay as long as I like it to be even though it's already quite long lasting. I guess I am really asking a lot. It's not an easy task to look for something to work better than an age old HG product. But I do believe that as a person's age progress, it is necessary to move on with new products in certain areas, if any of those are slipping.
I decided that I'd try Lumiere Cream Concealer when I read about its natural ingredients on the site. The words that caught my attention were: Tocopherol (Vitamin E). Vitamin E has been a strongest part of my skincare routine and if a concealer contains it, I'd like to try it! :)

And I have 2 shades to try - Light & Medium

Swatches
Although the mixed colour of Light & Medium seems to be the best match for my skin tone, I prefer using Medium on my brown spots alone as it covers better. I can just blend the edges with my foundation to a seamless effect.
Put to test:
The first thing I noticed was its packaging. I didn't know how to open it from the side! It took me a little while to figure it out. (Call me stupid if you want!) It's a new experience for me but I totally understand the rationale behind this design after a couple of uses.
The sliding disc keeps the cream fresh without having accidental nips and dips from fingers especially it's a pan form. And since it's a pan form, it can dry up faster if it's opened from the top like a regular compact. I have used this product many times now and there hasn't been a bit of scratch on the cream. The clumsy me would have damaged it somehow by now. I am grateful with this sliding case. And I like the total transparency because I can easily see which colour lies underneath. :)
After trying a few natural products with noticeable scent, I was no longer surprised to smell something when I use this product... Yes, products with natural ingredients can have smell of the ingredients. OK? So, this product has some smell (which obviously I can't figure out what!) But that doesn't bother me much as it dies as fast as the cream goes onto my skin. It's just something there and I have to let you guys know just in case it may be an issue for some.
Now, allow me to show you this picture of testing the concealer in Medium. Its coverage is most amazing!!! It covers up just about every single brown spot on my face! I left one spot uncovered intentionally so you can see how dark the spot is against my skin tone. And you will understand why I prefer using Medium alone instead of mixing it with Light.
And I also tried the concealer on my undereye area. I don't have a big problem with darkened skin but more of a puffiness concern. This concealer is as brilliant on the spots as it's on the undereyes! I think its well emollient quality makes it easy to go onto the eyes without accentuating the lines. Comparing with Make Up For Ever Full Cover, this texture is a lot creamier and smoother while Full Cover has that acrylic character and drier. I find it's easier to apply Lumiere Creamy Concealer in comparison.

And I could definitely see my skin lightened up! I have the feeling it's to do with Titanium & Zinc Oxide in it? The puffiness wasn't packed down as much as I'd like it to be but the result was good enough for me. The pictures shown above have about 2 coats of concealer without spreading it out. (I applied it with my finger and just patted it on the spots. I don't like to use brushes for concealer application as they tend to dilute the coverage.) I believe you can see its smooth and even texture as is.
This shows how emollient the cream is!
A full face makeup FOTD with Lumiere Creamy Concealer Medium
My lips have been cracking so I didn't put on much other than the clear gloss. You could see the unven pigments on my lips. :(
You can still see some puffiness when I smiled.
But I reckon it's more to do with my lack of sleep...
My Verdict:
Do I like this concealer? Yes, I do. And I have been using it more than Full Cover because I like how well it covers the spots and evens out my skin. And it lasts!!! My record so far was 12 hours without fading. Mind you, I am in and out of the house under renovation many times a day and perspire the way you can't even imagine and this concealer just stays there. My Full Cover will die in that intensive heat in about 6 hours. I am truly amazed!
And I love how it contains natural ingredients (even though there is a scent) as I am trying hard to minimize chemicals added onto my skin since I use so much makeup everyday...
This is a very cheap product, 6USD with 3g. in the pan. However, I don't think it's going to last long judging the rate I am using it. But that's certainly not an issue since it's such an economical product. I do have complaints about its labeling (not very clear and wears off easily), only offering 4 shades to choose from, and its availability (only on line at the moment but apparently will go into retail stores soon.)
I will say that Lumiere Creamy Concealer is way under-rated and is fast replacing my HG Make Up For Ever Full Cover. Why can't we have it here locally???!!! It would have made my life a lot easier!
